December 2009 Dyer & Butler’s Shepherds House Bridge site in Woodley, near Reading, has become the 40,000th site to register with the Considerate Constructors Scheme. Representatives of the Scheme, Dyer & Butler, Network Rail and WSP gathered at the site to celebrate the occasion with the presentation of a commemorative plaque. The £600,000 Shepherds House Bridge project runs from November 2009 to May 2010 and involves repair work to ensure the safety of an historic Isambard Kingdom Brunel railway bridge on the A4, on behalf of Wokingham Borough Council.
This was the ninth occasion on which the Scheme has celebrated a registration milestone; the first being the 5000th registered site, for Farrans Construction in Edinburgh, in 2002. Neil Edwards, Commercial Director at Dyer & Butler, commented: "Dyer & Butler are very proud to be part of the Considerate Constructors Scheme and are delighted one of our projects is the 40,000th to register. We are pleased to support the initiative that continues to change and improve the image of our industry." Edward Hardy, the Scheme’s Chief Executive added: “In a year which has seen the Scheme launch the new Company Registration initiative, it is fitting that we should also be celebrating such a monumental milestone for Site Registration. Dyer and Butler have achieved the accolade of being the 40,000th site to register with the Scheme, but I and the Scheme would like to thank the other 39,999 sites who have helped the Scheme go from strength to strength as it continues its work to improve the image of our industry.” People in main photo |

Scheme Director, John Ogle-Skan presented the plaque to Contracts Manager, Tom Jones, at a ceremony also attended by Dyer & Butler’s Site Agent, David Gilding; Construction Foreman, Dave Bessey; Andy Cook, Project Manager from WSP; Considerate Constructors Scheme Monitor for the site, Michael Allen, and Marketing Manager, Hilary Kendrick.
