FS 543981 | New Chairman and Board appointments at CCS |
|
February 2010 From 1 January 2010 there have been a number of changes on the Board of the Considerate Constructors Scheme. Having completed his two year run in December 2009, Norman Reed has stepped down as Chairman, and former Vice Chairman, Robert Biggs, has taken his place. Robert has been a Scheme Monitor since 2002. He became a Director in 2006 and Vice Chairman in 2009. Director and Principal Consultant of Robert Biggs Associates Ltd, his former career has included senior positions with the Greater London Council and with the London Borough of Hackney, for whom he was Head of Engineering and later Director of Environmental Services. Scheme Director, Bob Fisher, also completes his 3 year term as a Director. He will continue his roles as a Scheme Monitor and Chair of the Scheme’s Documentation Review Group (DRG) which focuses on reviewing, developing and updating Scheme documentation. To fill the two vacant Director positions, the Scheme has appointed two of its current Monitors, Paul Moore and Chris Lane. Paul Moore spent 17 years working as Construction Director for a regional company and was Managing Director of a regional housing company, before setting up his own consultancy company, specialising in education. Paul joined the Scheme as a Monitor in 2007. Chris Lane became a Scheme Monitor in 2005, having spent the early part of his career in a civil engineering practice and subsequently becoming a Regional Director of Ballast Wiltshier plc, responsible for major design and build projects in the South East region. Chris is now a Director of a project management consultancy.
Commenting on his new role within the Scheme, Robert says: "Under the guidance of Norman Reed and his predecessors, the Scheme has gone from strength to strength, and I look forward to seeing the Scheme expand and develop still further during my tenure as Chairman.
2009 saw some great milestones for the Scheme, such as the launch of the Company Registration initiative, which allows construction companies, and not just their sites, to sign up. We also celebrated the fact that 40,000 sites have registered since the Scheme began over 12 years ago. The Scheme has many more new and exciting developments on the horizon, with which to further its aim of improving the image of the construction industry during 2010." |
