Scheme develops international interest

Other countries are now looking to us to advise them on 'Considerate Construction' with a delegation of Swedish Industry professionals coming to the UK to see what we are doing.

Firstly, Stephan Orlander, a PHD student from the Lund University, Sweden, was taken on some London site visits by Mike Mitchell. He was very impressed with what we are doing and was amazed that we could do it for such a small fee.

The rest of the party, consisting of Bengt Hansson, Professor in Construction Management, Lund University, Mats Hakansson, Executive Director for the Swedish Construction Federation and Per-Ake Groning, manager of the Building Process Forum, arrived later.

They met with David at the Construction Confederation offices in London to discuss the details of how the Scheme works, before being taken to the B.C.J.V, £225m redevelopment of the University College London Hospital to see the benefits of adopting the principles of the Scheme on site.

The trip was a great success. The Swedish delegation agreed that what we are doing is a great benefit to the Industry and they are keener than ever to start something similar in Sweden.
