This final stage of a three-year project at London’s Heathrow Airport is for the design and build of Terminal 2B with 16 ‘satellite’ aircraft stands for the new terminal.
An innovative and highly valuable feature of this site’s performance was the creation of ‘The Hub’ - a multi-function room adjacent to all construction activity. This was the home for both day and night-time activity where the latest issues and feedback from the site were aired and shared in a no-nonsense fashion, and where designers, managers, supervisors and operatives met to discuss the project. The Hub was also linked to the two-way radio network via an open channel to around 20 site supervisors. This facility provided a real focus for on-site developments and centralised important information for immediate cascading throughout the site team.
Superb presentation of both site and perimeters ensured that the overall impression was one of the highest calibre.
