From Russia with care

RD Construction admiring the view of London

In October, the Scheme was contacted by RD Construction Management, a construction company based in Russia who wanted to find out more about considerate construction.

A number of colleagues from RD Construction were visiting the UK and wanted to take the opportunity to see world-leading construction in action and understand how the industry is turning its negative perception on its head.

With RD Construction staying in London, the Scheme asked for the help of a number of registered sites located in the city to show their Russian peers the many aspects of considerate construction and the positive impact it has on all those living or working near the projects.

Led by Scheme Director John Sayers, the Russian guests were left with plenty of food for thought as they toured the London sites and learnt how each project adhered to the Code of Considerate Practice.

On returning to Russia, Ilya Baybus, Business Development Director of RD Construction, commented: "Our visit to London and meeting with Considerate Constructors Scheme was really interesting. I and my colleagues had a great opportunity to understand all of the details of the English construction industry. All of the sites that we have seen gave us an understating of the high level of standards found in the UK. It was very useful to know about the Considerate Constructors Scheme and how they, and those who register with them, work to improve the image of construction. We find their activity very good ordered and very important. Now we have plans to work together and to apply the same experience in the Russian field".

The Scheme would like to thank the following contractors and their sites for their time and assistance with RD Construction's visit:
