Ivor's annual review

Ivor has had another busy year travelling the UK and promoting the importance of safety to hundreds of young children. But as well as conducting his usual duties, 2013 has also seen Ivor celebrate a couple of important milestones.

Ivor turned 10 years old earlier this year which he celebrated in style at the Associate Members' 'Improving The Image Of Construction' event. With his own colourful stand, Ivor was there to have his picture taken and hand out lots of goodies to everyone who attended.

Making his debut in 2003, Ivor's popularity has grown and grown, and turning 10 with the Scheme's Associate Members was the perfect occasion to celebrate.

Ivor also launched the first Hoarding Competition, which saw sites engage with their local communities to decorate their hoarding. More information on the hoarding competition can be found by clicking here.

Finally, Ivor also helped support both Child Safety Week and Road Safety Week for another year, and many contractors played their part in promoting these valuable causes.

Looking to 2014, there are quite a few initiatives which are still in development for Ivor. With his growing popularity showing no signs of slowing, a number of new costumes have been ordered to give even more contractors the opportunity use Ivor when educating children on the importance of safety.

Following the huge success of Ivor's 'Hunt the Hazard!' site sign, new educational games are in development which will look to highlight other important areas of construction, such as protecting the environment as well as other safety issues.

A school pack is also in development which will aid site managers and teachers in the planning and execution of delivering an Ivor Goodsite safety presentation to young children in schools. It can be a daunting task to present to a group of young children and the school pack will help with providing topics to be discussed and games that can be played to keep the attention of your audience.

These are just some of the many initiatives which are due in 2014. So although Ivor did indeed have a busy 2013, next year looks set to be even busier!
