This project, located on a Brownfield site with both commercial and residential neighbours, centred on the construction of a new maintenance facility for a railway company.

Considerate initiatives at this site included facilitating a local college lecturer to shadow the Community Liaison Officer and observe the site's considerate practices in operation. Many group visits were also arranged and the site provided a specially constructed elevated viewing platform for visitor convenience. Extensive efforts were also in place to support and engage with the workforce. These included the sponsorship of 'low carbon meals' showcasing produce grown locally by site tradesmen and operatives, and the encouragement of all site personnel to bring in unwanted articles for swapping with others on site, with the remaining balance going to charity. Following a smoking cessation workshop, ten further visits by specialists resulted in all participants giving up the habit.

Most impressively, neighbours who initially made complaints were gradually reassured by the site's excellent communications programme, which included a visit to the local Transport Museum which showed the project in much better context. Aided by excellent safety scores and real operative involvement, this site demonstrated all that is best in considerate construction.
