On the outskirts of Bradford, this project required the construction of a steel framed academy building in the grounds of an existing school.

The project manager appointed site staff to be champions of individual sections of the Scheme's Code, and each champion had to design and complete an innovative project relating to their category. This resulted in some exceptional initiatives, including a celebration of Ramadan for the many Muslim workers, with staff encouraged to experience fasting for the day. Following this, staff participated in an Eid celebration. To help reduce the level of accidents that often happen in the week that operatives return from holidays or sickness, an innovative 'Start Summer Right' campaign was launched, with its success leading to a company-wide rollout. Further safety initiatives included striking posters and information mounted at every turn in the entrance.

Inclusion of existing school staff and pupils was exemplary, and with mentoring from the project team, the pupils chose and designed the colour scheme, furniture and floor finishes of the new building. Help was also given with the school allotment, and a plaque commemorates all the pupils who contributed to the various elements.

With large photo montages of the project created in the style of local artist David Hockney, and excellent presentation throughout, this site showed a real and positive commitment to the aims of the Scheme.
