SCHEME NEWS
Strong support for
Prostate Cancer UK
Prostate Cancer UK has contacted the Scheme and
spoken about how pleased they have been with the
efforts of registered sites and companies.
A key requirement of the Scheme’s
Code of Considerate Practice is
to provide a workplace where
everyone is respected, treated
fairly, encouraged and supported.
While the Scheme has seen
significant progress in this area over
recent years, it is clear that much
work still needs to be done and
CITB has been working alongside
the construction industry to
develop the Be Fair Framework
From January to June, Prostate
Cancer UK has confirmed that
the following activities have
taken place due to featuring on
the Scheme’s website and in the
literature sent to all registered sites
and companies:
• 26 awareness talks have been
carried out over 13 different
companies (as listed below),
with over 1486 attendees.
Balfour Beatty
Berkley Homes
Bouygues UK
Bowmer & Kirkland Ltd
Carillion
Keepmoat
Lovell Construction
MACE Moorgate
Robertson Construction
Vinci Construction
VolkerStevin
Wates Construction
Willmott Dixon
• Over 10 companies requested
awareness packs/toolkits.
• VokerWessels requested 7,500
cards and 380 other materials
for a big health promotion and
made a donation of £500.
• Several companies including
ISG and many of the above
promoted Men United on their
intranets.
The Scheme would like to thank the
industry for supporting Prostate
Cancer UK and helping raise
awareness of this disease.

which was launched in June 2014.
Developed in partnership with
Constructing Equality, this new
approach aims to transform
working environments across all
segments of construction. It will
address all forms of discrimination,
negative cultures and practices
to create a fair, inclusive and
respectful industry for everyone.
The framework accreditation is the
very first of its kind and is awarded
by CITB to achieving companies.
It will help employers discover the
business and commercial benefit
of fully understanding, embracing
and harnessing the diversity of the
workforce, their customers and the
culturally diverse environment in
which they work.
