After an incredible response from registered sites and companies across the UK, and
involving over 2500 children, the Scheme is delighted to announce the winners and
runners-up of the 2014 Ivor Goodsite Hoarding Competition.
August 2014
Issue 33
Last year saw the launch of the
competition whereby construction
sites invited local schools and
children’s groups to participate in
decorating their hoardings. Events
were organised over the summer
months, where children could let
their imagination run wild as they
decorated site hoardings based on
their chosen theme.
This year’s competition saw the
second Hoarding Competition
launched in April and the Scheme
has received an even bigger
response than last year!
Ivor Goodsite’s Hoarding
Competition 2014
The Ivor Goodsite Hoarding
competition has proved to
be a successful innovation for
construction sites across the
UK to work together with their
surrounding communities, and
actively involve young people who
may be affected by their works.
Upon entering the competition,
the children were given the
opportunity to learn about
construction, even though the
hoarding decorations may only be
temporary, the experience may
leave a long term impression and
possibly be the incentive for some
to consider a career in construction
as they become older!
Over 2500 children took part in
this year’s competition, with every
participant due to receive a medal
and goody bag to thank them
for their time and effort spent
creating such masterpieces. After
some careful deliberation, the
judges chose five winning entries
that will be receiving a special
golden trophy and a visit from Ivor
Goodsite himself, along with their
goody bags.
The five winners were...
Gentoo Construction’s hoarding decorated with the help of Berwick Middle School, St Marys C of E School, Happy days Nursery,
The Sure Start Scheme and the emergency services.
