December 2014

Issue 34

CHAIRMAN’S INTRODUCTION

Thank you for helping to make 2014 such a successful

year for the Scheme and our industry - this year has

been a big year in every sense of the word.

The Scheme was delighted to

launch its third type of registration

this year, Supplier Registration,

which allows companies that

supply the industry with goods

and materials to register and

promote their considerate efforts.

They perform a vital role in the

construction process when

delivering materials to site and,

equally, they have a responsibility

to behave in a considerate manner

at all times to ensure they portray a

positive image of the industry they

represent.

Earlier this year we celebrated

the most considerate UK sites at

our annual National Site Awards,

presenting the highest number of

awards we have ever given at these

ceremonies in front of the largest

audience.

Ivor Goodsite’s Hoarding

Competition ran for its second

year and proved to be a bigger

and better success than last year.

Fourty-five sites entered the

competition where they engaged

with their communities to design

and decorate their project’s

hoarding based on a chosen theme.

The event was incredibly popular

and the decorated hoardings are

now a much-loved feature in their

local areas.

Our National Company Awards

also took place just recently,

where it was the turn of registered

companies to take to the stage

and receive recognition for the

incredible work they have done to

improve the image of construction.

The awards were an incredible

success, with over 300 people

seeing the Scheme present the

most awards we have ever given

out.

You’ll also see in this edition of

Industry Image

that we have been

fortunate to have registered over

9000 sites within a 12 month

period – the highest number of

registrations we have ever received

inside 12 months since we began

in 1997.

All of the above successes would

not have been possible without

the support and commitment that

every registered site, company and

now supplier has made to help

improve our industry’s image. On

behalf of the Scheme, I would like

to thank you once again for making

this year our biggest so far and

long may it continue as we head

into 2015.
