AssociateMembers’ Meeting -

14thOctober 2014

The meeting took place on 14th

October and was split into two

sessions; an Associate Members’

Working Group Meeting in the

morning, consisting of a small

number of members discussing key

issues, followed by the whole group

gathering in the afternoon.

Introducing the morning meeting

was Scheme Chairman, Mike Petter,

who explained this would be the

last meeting of the present Working

Group due to the customary

annual rotation of membership.

He introduced Albert Ree as the

new Scheme Director contact for


Mike Petter asked for the group’s

thoughts on the Scheme’s

Monitors’ Checklist for 2015 and

whether they felt the current

prompts needed to be amended or

developed. He then discussed the

Scheme’s well-received ‘Improving

the Image of Construction’

(ITIOC) event which took place in

Nottingham in September.

of monitoring and forthcoming

concepts, as well as the Social Value

Act and its implications for the


The Working Group broke for lunch,

joined by the remainder of the

Associate Members attending the

main meeting in the afternoon. This

session was introduced by Mike

Petter who gave a general update

on Associate Membership matters.

Edward Hardy then presented

an overview of current Scheme

issues and future plans, including

Site, Company and Supplier

Registrations statistics, Ultra Sites,

the recent ‘Spotlight on…language’,

the competition to win a free

registration and future activities.

The meeting was then divided in

half to discuss two topics – 2015

Checklist updates and the image

of construction by 2025, which

stemmed from a Government

report which looked at where the

industry should be by 2025. Each

group had a chance to look at both

topics before the whole meeting

came back together for a broad

summary of what was discussed.

The meeting concluded with the

presentation of Associate Member

Longevity Awards, where a 10 Year

Award was presented to Martin

Lovegrove of the Berkeley Group as

well as to four companies who were

unfortunately unable to attend –

Carillion, Costain, VolkerWessels

andWillmott Dixon.

A dinner with all the Associate

Members followed which was an

enjoyable end to a very productive

day. The Scheme would like to
