SUPPLIER REGISTRATION

Explaining howWernick Hire

incorporates the requirements

of the Scheme into its working

practices, Lawrence said: “As a

registered supplier, we are audited

as operational members and ensure

we have safe, clean environments

which are well presented.

“We invest in our staff with

legislative training and set quality

standards both in process and

product.”

Wernick Group’s continued

expansion has led to the relocation

of its manufacturing base to a

£3m factory development near

Port Talbot. The new factory was

opened on the 4th June by the First

Minister of Wales.

The new site, less than fifteen miles

down the road from the current

factory, will improve factory output

by 50%

Commenting on how the Scheme

helps with any challenges to

operations, Lawrence remarked:

“Our biggest challenge is one

of community involvement, as

our locations are a little remote

sometimes, with a number of

mobile staff, which can prohibit

any sustained local and community

activities.”

Expressing his future hopes for

Wernick Hire, he concluded:

“Continued exposure to customers

requiring good quality site

accommodation, both portable

(cabins) and modular, whilst

moving to a more eco-theme.”

The Wernick Group of companies

has a proud history, starting out

in 1934 as a humble manufacturer

of poultry crates and going from

strength to strength throughout

the decades.

The Wernick Group is now

comprised of Wernick Buildings Ltd,

Wernick Hire Ltd, Wernick Event

Hire Ltd (trading as Wernick Events),

andWernick Refurbished

Buildings Ltd.

It has been a very

positive experience,

both in understanding

the CCS criteria

of ‘what good

looks like’, to what

ambitions considerate

constructors should

have, and what

improvements we

could make to our

operation.

“There have been

some really positive

improvements – eco-

awareness, cleanliness,

the importance of

encouraging a healthy

workplace; smoking

has become a negative

subject.
