Issue 39

The Scheme is delighted that eight contractors are now piloting the concept of Ultra

Sites and pushing the standards of considerate construction even further.

Ultra Sites initiative continues

to gather momentum

A truly collaborative approach

to construction, Ultra Sites see

contractors, subcontractors and

suppliers joining forces and

working together to abide by the

Scheme’s Code of Considerate

Practice and set the benchmark for

others to follow.

The concept of Ultra Sites was

developed after Canary Wharf

Contractors Ltd asked the Scheme

to promote greater collaboration

within the entire industry chain, to

ensure a more unified approach to

considerate construction.

Ultra Site status is only awarded

to sites who take best practice to

the highest levels and stipulates

Scheme Chief Executive Edward Hardy (right) with Cormac MacCrann, Managing Director of Canary Wharf Contractors

that a number of suppliers and

subcontractors involved with a site

are registered with the Scheme.

Commenting on the encouraging

take-up by the country’s leading

construction organisations, Scheme

Chief Executive Edward Hardy said:

“We are delighted that the Ultra

Site pilot continues to progress and

move forward.

“It is fantastic that the industry is

embracing this truly collaborative

approach to improving the

image of the industry, and that

contractors continue to recognise

the commercial, social and

environmental benefits this brings.”
