Ysgol St Joseph’s
Colwyn Bay Pier
An amazing miniature version of the famous Colwyn
Bay Pier was recreated by 27 talented pupils from
Ysgol St Joseph’s Primary School in Colwyn Bay.
The children had been inspired after studying the
history of the pier, which sadly has to be demolished
due to storm damage and general disrepair.
In preparation of the build, the children saved used
tin cans and milk cartons for the main struts of the
pier, as well as boxes, cardboard and various plastic
Every pupil made a set of struts and then drew the
planks on the pier before the whole thing was put
together to make the main structure. The buildings
were then made and attached, with the pupils
working extremely hard to make their very own
version of the Colwyn Bay Pier.
