Canary Wharf Contractors

With the help of:

Oasis Academy

South Bank

Big Ben

This clever model of world famous clock - Big Ben -

was created using recycled materials by the Year 9

Engineering Enrichment Class at the Oasis Academy

South Bank.

Around 20 pupils in the Engineering Enrichment

class had many great ideas but were undecided so

they built all of them! The buildings were made from

a week’s worth of recyclable materials from Canary

Wharf Contractors Ltd’s Southbank Place site office,

as well as the students’ homes.

In the end, they decided the best build was the

Big Ben model. The group chose to build Big Ben

because it is one of the most iconic buildings in

London as well as being close to the Southbank

Place Construction Site. It was made using

cardboard, newspaper, tissue paper, drink stirrers

and confectionery containers.
