With the help of:
University of Manchester
Engineering Campus Development
A creative team of young builders from Medlock
Primary School made their own interpretation
of Balfour Beatty’s University of Manchester
Engineering Campus Development.
Joined by their parents and siblings, 10 of the pupils
formed an after-school Big Build Club to create their
own version of the MECD, assisted by Raj Defonseka,
Balfour Beatty’s Project Manager and Andrea Holt,
Social Sustainability Advisor.
The project came about after Andrea approached
the school Community Lead asking if the school
would be interested in entering the Big Build
Competition and the pupils said they were delighted
to take part. The Build Team met weekly and photos
were taken of the design and build which was
chronicled on the school’s Twitter page.
