To help mark the tenth anniversary year of the Considerate Constructors Scheme, a celebratory dinner was held on 12 July at the Grosvenor House hotel, London, attended by some 400 guests from the construction and associated industries.

Central to the evening’s celebrations was the presentation of 80 awards to contractors and clients in recognition of their high standards of considerate construction. Presented by Sir Michael Latham, whose vision helped to shape the original concept of the Scheme, the awards were presented by in six categories, representing the various sectors of the industry, together with a further category for the Most Committed Client and an overall Most Considerate Constructor category.

One contractor was selected as the highest performing company from over 4500 who have registered sites with the Scheme. This accolade went to Bovis Lend Lease.

Those companies present have expressed their delight at winning their ‘Most Considerate’ accolade and thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

Commenting on the anniversary event, the Scheme’s Chairman, Peter Kingdon, said: “This special evening recognises the enormous contribution of many individuals and companies who have helped the Considerate Constructors Scheme reach its ten year milestone. I am delighted that the Scheme is now held in such high regard, and these awards clearly demonstrate the real commitment of the industry and its clients to achieve ever higher standards of considerate site practice.”
