Code Checklist to include the provision of female sanitary products from 2023

The Scheme is delighted to announce that from 2023, its Code of Considerate Practice Checklist will stipulate that Scheme-registered sites and organisations are to include the supply of female sanitary products (free or chargeable) in all permanent and semi-permanent female toilet facilities.

Section 3.3.1 of the 2023 Checklist asks: “How is the Registered Activity ensuring suitable, hygienic and well-maintained welfare facilities are provided?”.

A required prompt has been edited as follows: Sanitary bins and a supply of female sanitary products (free or chargeable) in all permanent and semi-permanent female toilet facilities (excluding porta-loos and facilities installed for less than three days).

This is a very important update reflecting the need to provide improved conditions for the industry’s workforce. The issue was raised with the Scheme through social media and the accompanying petition on Change.org and has received widespread attention throughout the industry.
