60,000 Site Registrations!
The Considerate Constructors Scheme was pleased to celebrate the 60,000th Site Registration with David Wilson Homes on the 22nd June 2012.
David Wilson Homes registered their site Kings Down in Bridgwater, becoming the 60,000th Site Registration since the Scheme began 15 years ago. To celebrate this milestone, past Scheme Chairman and current Monitor Peter Kingdon visited the site, along with Scheme Director Mike Petter, and met with David Wilson Homes to present them with a commemorative plaque to mark the occasion. The plaque was presented to Colin Smethurst, Construction Director; Mark Clynshaw, Contracts Manager; and Site Managers Darren Hodgson and Martin Wiltshire.
Commenting on the event, Colin Smethurst said:
We were delighted when the Considerate Constructors Scheme contacted us to confirm our Site Registration at Kings Down was their 60,000th registration under the Scheme and that they wanted to celebrate this milestone with a site presentation.
Whilst the event itself was a simple plaque presentation, the significance to the site staff to have this recognition was much more. Having senior staff from the Scheme inspect their work and facilities provided for the workforce meant a lot to the site team.
The Scheme continues to be the yard stick we use to improve working facilities on site and how we portray ourselves to the general public as a developer/builder. We will continue to register developments and work with the Scheme to further improve our workplaces and the general image of the construction industry.
It was only last year when the Scheme celebrated reaching 50,000 Site Registrations, and to achieve another milestone in little over a year is not only a great success for the Scheme but demonstrates the real commitment of the industry to improve its image.
Peter Kingdon commented:
It was a great pleasure to meet Colin Smethurst and members of the project management team at David Wilson Homes’ Kings Down Development. David Wilson Homes has registered projects with the Considerate Constructors Scheme for more than ten years and I am delighted, therefore, that the Scheme was able to celebrate the 60,000th Site Registration with a company that demonstrates such commitment to raising standards and improving the image of construction.
Mike Petter added:
It was really good to be able to celebrate the 60,000th Site Registration with the team at David Wilson Homes. The site is part of the first phase of a major regeneration for the area that includes housing, employment and community facilities. It is a prime example of how the construction industry plays a major part in the lives of a local community and this site in particular has made a point of supporting the well-known local Bridgwater Carnival. It is encouraging that even in an industry recession, we are able to recognise such a significant milestone and celebrate the continued success of the Scheme.
