Associate Members’ Meeting, May 2014
The Considerate Constructors Scheme held its first Associate Members’ Meeting of 2014 on the 20th May at the Coombe Abbey Hotel in Coventry. The meetings enable Associate Members to meet and discuss Scheme issues, and be updated on the latest initiatives.
The day began with an Associate Members’ Working Group meeting which allows a selection of Associates to review any concerns or comments put forward by all Associate Members, and to suggest the best way forward for Associate Membership as a whole.
The main meeting then followed with Scheme Chairman David Watson welcoming all Associate Members and introducing new members Knight Build Limited, Midas Group and Quadrant Construction Services Limited to the group.

David Watson, along with Vice Chairman Mike Petter and Directors John Sayers and John Evans, presented the members with an overview of the Scheme’s current activities and registration statistics, as well as the upcoming Associate event and future initiatives.
After lunch, the group split into two and took turns in discussing the expansion of Client Partnership through Associate contacts, which was chaired by John Evans, and how the industry should portray its image in 2025 with Mike Petter.
This was then followed by feedback from the discussion group chairs and an update from the morning Working Group Meeting.
The meeting also provided the perfect opportunity for David Watson to present certain Associate Members with their Longevity Awards, which recognise the continued commitment shown by Associate Members in improving the image of construction:
Celebrating 10 years as an Associate Member were:
BAM Construct UK Ltd
Lafarge Tarmac has also been awarded their 10 year Associate Member Longevity Award but were not present to receive it.
Celebrating 5 years as an Associate Member were:
Seddon Construction Ltd
Barr Construction, John Sisk & Son Ltd, Simons Construction Ltd and United House Ltd have also been awarded their 5 year Associate Member Longevity Award but were not present to receive it.
The meeting was a great success and the Scheme gained valuable feedback on the topics discussed. The Scheme would like to thank the Associate Members for attending and for their continued support.
The next Associate Member meeting is due to be held in October 2014.
