Associate Members’ Meeting, Nov 2013
The Considerate Constructors Scheme held its second Associate Members’ Meeting of 2013 on the 19th November where all members got together to discuss Scheme initiatives and its future direction.
The meeting took place over a day, but was split into two parts. In the morning, Scheme Chairman David Watson welcomed newest members Eric Wright Construction, Interserve Construction and Laing O’Rourke. David Watson then presented the companies with a brief overview of the Scheme’s history, its present activities and what the Scheme hopes to achieve in the future.
The group then broke for lunch before the afternoon session began with all Associate Members. The main meeting kicked off with Scheme Chief Executive Edward Hardy updating the group on a number of Scheme initiatives and registration statistics.
This was then followed with the Associate Members being split into two discussion groups where they were asked to talk about two current topics – updates to the Checklist for 2014, and the Scheme’s values and future direction.
Each group looked at both topics, and once everyone was reunited, the Chair from each group summarised their discussions.
The meeting concluded with the Scheme presenting Associate Members with Longevity Milestone Awards which recognise the longest-serving Associates for the commitment they have made to improve the image of construction.

A number of Associate Members then stayed with the Scheme for dinner and to unwind after a busy day.
The meeting was a great success, with the Scheme receiving valuable feedback that it will use to develop future initiatives.
The next Associate Member meeting is due to be held in May 2014.
