Conlon Construction Ltd, Colton House Respite Centre for the initiative Developing a Sensory Garden for the Residents

To support the health and wellbeing of the residents of Colton House, a local respite centre, Blackpool Council approached Conlon Construction to include a sensory garden within the landscape design for its redevelopment project. The sensory garden was designed to stimulate our five senses of sight, smell, sound, touch and taste, giving residents a connection to nature and encouraging them to become more aware of their surroundings. As part of the project The Green Team were bought onboard, a group of teenagers and adults with learning disabilities to help deliver the garden and provide ongoing maintenance. By creating inclusive opportunities this initiative has helped improve self-esteem, self-worth and provide vital life experiences to develop the individuals on the project.
