McLaughlin & Harvey Construction Ltd, The University of Edinburgh Kings Building Nucleus – Phase 1 for the initiative Shared Prosperity: Local Procurement & Capacity Building

McLaughlin and Harvey have demonstrated its commitment to investing in and developing the local supply chain during its work at The University of Edinburgh Kings Building Nucleus Project. By buying goods and services locally and ethically, the project resulted in 85% local procurement, 85% SME procurement, 180% Social Enterprise procurement and 100% fair payment. Aiming to upskill, improve bidding competitiveness and build capacity, the procurement team identified local SME’s and voluntary, community, and social enterprises to engage with and develop a plan of support. The initiative has not only created opportunities to stimulate the local economy and create jobs, but it has also helped support individuals from marginalised and disadvantaged groups in society.
