Cedar Hall is a standout example of Morgan Sindall’s ‘Decarbonising Communities’ strategy to promote carbon reduction and net zero practices. The project, to build a teaching block for 80 SEND pupils, incorporated sustainability from the start with a Sustainability Charter to keep decarbonisation at the forefront. Making conscious decisions to switch from steel construction to a timber SIPs frame and encouraging electric and hybrid plant, the project has taken significant strides in meeting its target to save over 10 tonnes of carbon and limiting waste to 1.28 tonnes. Supporting its commitment longer term, the completed project will be Net Zero in operation using ASHP, Solar Panels, and NVHR heating solutions. A newly installed nature reserve will increase biodiversity and encourage the education of sustainability to future generations.
