Since joining the Scheme in mid-September this year, I have been very pleased to reach out and meet many representatives from across the industry. Our discussions have been focussed on understanding the importance of the work the Scheme has done in raising standards across the industry and beginning to look at what it could do in the future.
These ongoing conversations with Scheme’s Partners, companies and suppliers, Monitors, industry bodies and other high-level industry professionals about the future of the industry and the Scheme’s position, have been vital to ensure that we can adapt to the challenges that the industry is facing to continue adding value wherever possible.
As we move into 2020, I am excited to be working closely with Scheme stakeholders, particularly those that influence engagement across the industry, to transform the Considerate Constructors Scheme, to ensure relevance and value for everyone.
A record attendance and a strong level of engagement at the Partners’ Meeting in November signalled to me how much those engaged want to be part of how we can adapt and move into new areas; to make sure we are all having the best possible impact on all communities we work and live in, our workforce and our environment.
It is clear from the Partners’ Meeting and other discussions I have had, is that what is ‘considerate’ both within the industry and across our society is changing, and we must take this opportunity to review and develop the Scheme to the evolving landscape of ‘considerate’ within the construction industry.
I am thrilled to be spearheading this transformation of the Considerate Constructors Scheme and have been working with stakeholders to explore what opportunities there are both within our organisation and outside of it.
In January, I will be undertaking a series of Chief Executive Strategic Roundtables to hear from Chief Executives and Managing Directors of Scheme Partner organisations to further flesh out our strategic development ideas. C-Suite input, views and strategic insight into what is important to organisations now and in the future will be essential to ensuring that the Scheme continues to deliver real value to everyone.
I will also be undertaking a series of Regional Meetings with Scheme Monitors around the country to garner their feedback and views of how we can progress in the future.
On behalf of the Considerate Constructors Scheme, I would like to thank everyone involved in the great work that has been achieved, and I look forward to continuing to work together to drive positive and lasting change across the industry in 2020 and beyond.
