Coronavirus – resources for the industry and public

Caring, Coaching and Supporting through the coronavirus pandemic

What is the Considerate Constructors Scheme doing to help and support?

The construction industry is playing a vital role in keeping the country going as part of the national effort to provide facilities for those taken ill and for the future economic recovery of the country.

Where the Considerate Constructors Scheme can help and offer support, we will endeavour to do so.

The coronavirus pandemic is presenting huge challenges for us all. This situation is a very complex one and is constantly evolving.

We have put together this section to provide resources to help support the industry, its workforce and the general public through the coronavirus pandemic and beyond.

Our approach is to offer resources which help with Caring, Coaching and Supporting through this crisis.

We are currently raising awareness of these resources and providing regular updates to this page, so please bookmark and revisit this page regularly.

Thank you for visiting this section, and we wish everyone well at this enormously difficult time.

Please see below for links to resources and follow us on Twitter @CCScheme @ccsbestpractice, where we will help to raise awareness of these resources.

Caring

We are hosting and signposting to a suite of resources issued from Government, the Industry Task Force and other industry organisations about important advice and guidelines to follow during the pandemic.

Our Public Liaison service is fully available and playing a key role to help manage complaints and help to understand and address concerns where we can during the coronavirus pandemic. This is a service related to CCS-registered construction activity and is offered for both those working within the industry and the public.

We are continuing to offer remote monitoring of CCS-registered activity, where this is suitable and practicable. In order to help with caring for and protecting the workforce and the public, we are prioritising the aspects of our Checklist which are relevant to coronavirus-related issues. We do appreciate that this may not be feasible for some registered activity during this time and we completely understand this position.

We are helping to drive awareness of key activities happening across the industry to help look after the industry’s workforce and public.

Coaching

The Scheme has been hosting a series of ‘Coaching through coronavirus’ webinars, which are available to watch on demand using the links below.

We are offering those registered with the Best Practice Hub the opportunity to take e-learning modules on how to improve considerate standards in relation to looking after the industry’s workforce, communities and the environment.

The Best Practice Hub is a free resource that anyone can register with to access thousands of examples of best practice from across the industry as well as campaigns tackling industry issues and our suite of free e-learning courses. Click here to register with the Best Practice Hub.

We would also like to make the industry aware of some external resources that have been specifically designed to support all those in the construction industry during this increasingly difficult time.

Supporting

We are continuing to offer monitoring through virtual monitoring visits until such a time that it is feasible for monitoring to take place on-site. For guidance about virtual visits, including the process and how to prepare for one, please click here.

CITB has produced a range of checklists to help employers implement the Site Operating Procedures in practice:

We have put together a special ‘Spotlight on… coronavirus’ awareness campaign on the Best Practice Hub which encourages behaviors to help protect those that work throughout the construction industry, local communities, and the wider general public in reducing the spread of coronavirus. This campaign will be continually reviewed and updated in accordance with any changes to guidance and any resources available.

Spotlight on… coronavirus

We are also continuing to share real life case studies, tools and innovations of best practice from CCS-registered construction activity. The coronavirus section on the Hub showcases what examples of best practice considerate constructors are doing to help tackle the spread of the disease.

Thank you to all those considerate constructors who have so far submitted entries on best practice in relation to tackling the spread of coronavirus, as well as submissions received on different areas. It is so impressive that we are receiving and able to share best practice at this time when everyone is working in such extraordinary circumstances.

We hope that you find these resources useful. If you have any suggestions or ideas, we welcome any feedback you may have by emailing enquiries@ccsbestpractice.org.uk.
