Clients of construction projects, where the principal contractor is registered with the Scheme, are part of the Scheme’s community. This means that as the client, you may be able to receive the reports that our Scheme Monitors produce after they have visited the construction site.
These reports give you information on how the site is conforming to the Code of Considerate Practice in its three areas:

Through our free Client Partnership programme, we help construction clients have visibility of their construction projects’ performance. This can support you in key challenges such as managing risk, improving relations with local communities and protecting the environment.
We believe a concerted focus on these areas leads to improved outcomes for everyone, and supports construction clients to meet social value and sustainability targets, drive efficiency, deliver on their values and maintain a competitive edge.

Monitoring provides you with objective, third-party observations that can help performance on site, aid future decision making and help manage risk.
All construction activities registered with the Scheme are subject to monitoring visits. The independent Monitor will observe if and how a site is conforming to the Code and provide feedback on how to make improvements.
As a Client Partner you can access Monitor visit data via the Insights Dashboard, where all reports are visible in one place.
Client Partners can opt for enhanced monitoring.
Clients with sensitive sites, or those who wish to drive higher standards across their portfolio, can also opt for enhanced monitoring. This can be agreed to directly with the Scheme or specified within client tenders/contracts.
The Insights Dashboard allows you to access all Scheme-relevant data about your construction projects. Along with Monitoring reports across your portfolio you will be able to see public complaints data, have visibility on upcoming Monitor visits and be enabled to benchmark performance.
The Dashboard has anonymised data from across the whole of the UK and Ireland, offering real-life averages that you can use to gauge the performance of your sites and highlight areas that require improvement.
By having a dedicated Public Support team we offer the public a way to raise their concerns, or provide feedback about construction activity.
Each month we support hundreds of members of the public who have raised concerns or provided feedback about Scheme-registered activity.
We liaise with Scheme-registered construction activity on behalf of the public to address their concern and, where possible, resolve the issue.
All concerns and feedback about your construction activities will be available to view on the Insights Dashboard.
With around 30,000 users, the Scheme’s Best Practice Hub is a comprehensive resource that offers contractors, clients and suppliers practical resources, e-learning modules and case studies on how construction activity can raise its standards in the areas of the Code.
It includes real-life examples of the Code being applied on sites effectively and efficiently, and outlines initiatives that are already in place or are being developed, so that everyone can stay up to date with the latest best practice recommendations.
By its nature construction activity is fragmented, due to the multiple contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers involved in each project. This means on site behaviours or culture can often be misaligned, leading to poor communication, lack of respect and suboptimal performance which can undermine client project goals.
Yet it does not have to be that way. As a Client Partner, you can stipulate our Construction Site Leadership and Culture module for your projects, to help raise standards. In doing so, construction project teams can gain practical, tailored support to help their site/organisation make improvements to their culture and leadership behaviours.
Ultimately, focusing on good culture and positive leadership behaviours helps to improve community and workforce relations. It also improves performance, quality, the bottom line and influences productivity. It grants you the ability to create a positive legacy for local communities.
Being a Client Partner means that your organisation is displayed on our website and online Construction Map. As well as a public acknowledgement of your involvement with the Scheme, you will receive a logo to use on corporate websites and materials.
Organisations who have been a partner for five years or more will receive a certificate noting their commitment to improving standards and building trust.
You will also be invited to participate in our Client Leadership Group where industry leaders come together to discuss industry challenges and potential resolutions with an aim to further drive-up standards and build public trust.
Registered sites are also eligible to be considered for the Scheme’s annual national Leading Lights Awards, which recognise those that have gone the extra mile to make a positive impact.
We have dedicated account management for all Partners, providing support when you need it.
We will help you to get the most out of the Scheme, from support to stipulate the Scheme in your tenders and contracts, to guidance on how the Insights Dashboard and Best Practice Hub can help you.
We have over 130 Contractor Partners and Client Partners. Our in-person bi-annual Partner meetings bring everyone together and provide a great opportunity for you to network, understand considerate practice and facilitate peer learning. Our webinars and newsletters also keep you up to date on developments with the Scheme.
Our sister scheme, Building a Safer Future, was established to help duty holders put people’s safety first. It is underpinned by the Building a Safer Future Charter, which was established to promote safety for all those living and working in the built environment.
Recommended for tier one contractors, the Champion Assessment helps organisations to identify potential issues and develop plans to improve and advance their approach to leadership and culture in relation to building safety.
Clients of construction projects can become a Registered Signatory of Building a Safer Future to demonstrate their commitment to supporting the principles of the Charter and putting safety first.
