Former CCS Director Professor John Nolan receives CBE

The Considerate Constructors Scheme is delighted to congratulate Professor John Nolan on his appointment as a CBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list.

Professor Nolan receives the honour for services to structural engineering and the construction industry. He was a Director on the Board of the Considerate Constructors Scheme from 2016 to 2019, as a representative of one of the Scheme owners, the Construction Industry Council.

A committed advocate of the Scheme, he played a pivotal role in driving strategic development including the appointment of the new Chief Executive in 2019.

We are thrilled that John has received this very senior honour. He has been a huge contributor to the sector, providing essential leadership on some very challenging issues. We wish him our heartfelt congratulations.

Professor Nolan is a Chartered Engineer with over forty years’ experience in the construction industry; a Fellow of both the Institution of Structural Engineers and the Institution of Civil Engineers. He is also a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor of Innovation at the University of Birmingham.

Currently Deputy Chair of CIC, Professor Nolan is Director of Birmingham-based practice, John Nolan Associates, and a Past President of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE).
