Ivor Goodsite launches his new workbook
Ivor Goodsite’s Construction Site Safety, an interactive workbook that aims to educate children about the dangers of playing on construction sites, was officially launched on 12 November 2012 at an event held at a school in Haringey, London.
After months of planning, design, development and testing, Ivor’s workbook was finally ready to be showcased to pupils of the St Mary’s Priory Catholic Infant and Junior School in Haringey, London. Willmott Dixon Construction Ltd is currently carrying out construction work close to the school, and Site Manager Ian Hazelton helped launch Ivor’s workbook and gave a safety presentation to the children.
Ivor, at the ready and armed with an array of goodies, surprised the delighted children during what they thought would be a typical Monday morning lesson, announcing that he would in fact be taking over. Both pupils and teachers were thrilled to meet the friendly construction industry mascot, and learn about the dangers of construction sites.
As if the anticipation wasn’t already enough, the children were told that they would also have the exciting task of completing some exercises in their very own Ivor workbooks. This was a great success and the children thoroughly enjoyed the session, learning all there is to know about the construction industry and how to stay safe.
Having provided their invaluable input from the first stages of development, as well as endorsing Ivor’s workbook, the Children’s Safety Education Foundation were delighted to be involved in its final unveiling.
Edward Hardy, Chief Executive of the Considerate Constructors Scheme, said:
The development of Ivor’s workbook is another addition to a range of products which educate children on the importance of safety. The launch event was a resounding success and it was great to see the pupils engaged and enjoying the workbook. The Scheme hopes to carry on working with Ivor in developing future initiatives that continue to raise safety awareness and promote the construction industry.
John McNamee, Chief Executive of CSEF, commented:
The Children’s Safety Education Foundation extends their congratulations to the Considerate Constructors Scheme with their constant efforts to enhance children’s safety education across the UK. We are delighted to have been invited to assist with the Ivor workbook development programme and wish the Considerate Constructors Scheme every success with this initiative. The charity looks forward to a continued successful partnership with both the Scheme and Ivor Goodsite for years to come.
