We are delighted to have Jazz band the Smooth Operators providing the soundtrack throughout the day, and we will also be joined by Jamie Nichols, who will bring a touch of magic and mystery to the event. Jamie, a magician Emcee and all round entertainer, is a member of the Magic Circle, the world’s most prestigious magic club.
Showcasing the very best of the construction industry, the Leading Lights Awards recognises the outstanding achievements of sites, organisations and individuals in exceeding the Code of Considerate Practice; championing sustainability, giving back to the community, and respecting the workforce.
To honour the pioneering efforts of our award winners, we are striving to deliver an awards ceremony that personifies the values they have worked hard to achieve.
We pledge to deliver an event that minimises its impact on the environment. We are promising the use of sustainable materials such as recycled glass and FSC beech wood for the overall winner trophies. To minimise the need for printed materials we are implementing electronic tickets and a digital event programme.
Our event venue, the Royal Lancaster Hotel, is proud to have achieved the EarthCheck Silver certification. The hotel has undergone vigorous testing to become a regional leader in sustainable practices, benchmarking its energy use, water consumption, paper, carbon emissions, chemicals and waste, as well as its community and employee impact initiatives against international standards. The building itself was the first Central London hotel to introduce rooftop beehives back in 2009, to encourage biodiversity and increase the population of pollinators in a dense urban environment. The hotel menus are continually assessed to ensure ingredients are seasonal and sourced locally from the UK, with plenty of plant-based options.
This year we have invited our Supporters Prostate Cancer UK and CRASH to promote the transformative work they are doing in providing a critical lifeline to individuals suffering with cancer, or experiencing homelessness.
Building on the success of last year’s event, we hope these initiatives will inspire others to make a difference.

We are pleased to welcome two of our Supporters at this event, CRASH, the construction industry charity, and Prostate Cancer UK. Please remember to visit their stands to hear more about their work, and how you can support it.
CCS Supporters play a vital role across a range of different areas which can positively impact the construction industry, such as providing training and support for future recruits to the industry, helping to raise awareness of health issues across the industry, or providing support directly to the industry’s workforce.
CRASH is the construction industry’s charity. It’s a practical charity that channels the expertise, products and generosity of the industry to create places that care for vulnerable people in homelessness projects and hospices.
CRASH is unique in the way they renovate and construct caring environments by offering pro bono professional expertise, sourcing building materials and the technical knowledge to use them, and awarding cash grants.
Well designed and expertly built environments have a positive effect on how we all feel and behave. This is especially true for homeless, vulnerable or sick people and those who care for them.
1 in 8 men will be get prostate cancer at some point in their lives, yet 83% of men are unaware of their risk. Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition – to stop men dying from prostate cancer. The charity funds pioneering and innovative research, drives improvements in treatment, fights injustice in care and supports men and their loved ones with their specialist nurse service.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men and with some men diagnosed from as young as early 40 years it’s a fact that cannot be ignored.
Prostate Cancer UK works together with the Considerate Constructors Scheme to help raise awareness in the sector. They can help you deliver your health and wellbeing objectives and protect your workforce, and offer support to all those affected by prostate cancer in the construction industry, both for this generation and the next.
