Supporting Movember 2015
Throughout November, men and women across the world are pledging their support for men’s health by taking part in Movember, a global charity event committed to helping men live happier, healthier, longer lives.
Developed by the Movember Foundation back in 2003, £402m has been raised so far, funding over 1000 programmes focusing on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity. Men can grow a moustache during the month of November while both men and women can take part in MOVE, a 30-day physical fitness challenge.
The UK construction industry is a strong supporter of this annual event, with many contractors playing their part in raising awareness and valuable funds. For a number of years, Scheme Associate Member Mulalley have pledged their support with numerous sites taking part and raising much needed funds. This year, they have developed team Mo-lalley, a company-wide drive to get even more people involved and raise an even greater donation.
Mace, another Associate Member, is also a key supporter which erected two giant ‘Macetaches’ on its South Bank Tower project in London in 2013, and in 2014, creating their own Mace Movember Network for donations. Click here to see the ‘Macetaches’ on display.
The Scheme is delighted to be taking part this year, with a number of colleagues at its administration office in Hertfordshire growing their moustaches for this worthwhile cause.
Prostate Cancer UK, a Scheme Supporter, are the main beneficiary of the Movember campaign in the UK and together they have invested tens of millions of pounds in to research and services aimed at providing support for men with prostate cancer.
