Teambuild 2016 – do you accept the challenge?
Once again the Scheme will be sponsoring and supporting the Teambuild Future Leaders Competition, a challenge for young industry professionals that sees multidisciplinary teams working together to tackle the design, development, and construction process of a real site.
The competition calls on teams of five or six competitors, with a broad skillset from various disciplines, to work together to think, discuss, sketch, design, compromise, calculate, and then present their solutions to a panel of judges.
A pre-qualification exercise will determine which teams make it to the finals weekend on 18-20 November.
Teams will then take part in a three-day challenge, starting with a master plan proposal, moving into procurement and design, taking this right through the construction process, and finishing with the construction stage of a major development. Teams will present their processes and solutions to a panel of judges – including Scheme Monitor and Ambassador, John Sayers.
The Teambuild event not only provides those who take part with a great experience of real-world industry scenarios but also offers a great opportunity to network with industry peers and enhance their career development.
Past challenges include a planning and managing a complex infrastructure interchange project at Gogar, West Edinburgh, an office redevelopment at Paddington and the redevelopment of the King’s Cross area.
Teambuild is organised by leading figures drawn from construction institutions including The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), the Worshipful Company of Constructors, the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and the Institution of Structural Engineers.
The deadline to register for this competition has now passed.
