The Olympic Flame

As London, the United Kingdom, and the rest of the world prepares to celebrate the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games on 27th July, the Olympic Flame has been doing its own relay around Great Britain.

The Olympic Flame arrived in the UK on the 18th May 2012 and began a 70-day Olympic Torch Relay, travelling through more than 1000 cities, towns and villages. While on the way to its final destination, where it will light the Cauldron at the Opening Ceremony to mark the official start of the Games, the Flame will have passed many interesting buildings, including those currently under construction and registered with the Scheme.

Kier Construction is currently carrying out a single storey extension, as well as refurbishment works, at Newport Girls’ High School in Shropshire. As the Olympic Flame passed by their site, they were able to capture this once in a lifetime moment on camera. This statement may not hold up in the world of photography, but we here at the Scheme feel that this registered site has one of the best photographers in the country!
