Ultra Sites status for CWCL’s Southbank Place
Canary Wharf Contractors’ Limited (CWCL) Southbank Place has been recognised as an Ultra Site.
Scheme Chief Executive, Edward Hardy presented the Ultra Site certificate to Cormac MacCrann, Managing Director of Canary Wharf Contractors at Southbank Place on 25 September.
The concept of Ultra Sites was introduced after Canary Wharf Contractors suggested increased collaboration between clients, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers.
Adopting this idea, the Scheme developed Ultra Sites – the ultimate pinnacle of considerate construction, aimed at increasing industry standards by registering not just the site, but the supply chain as well.
Speaking at the launch on site in Cornwall Road, near Waterloo Station, Scheme Chief Executive, Edward Hardy said:
Ultra Sites are the next level of achieving even greater standards and collaboration across the entire industry.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme is thrilled that Canary Wharf Contractors have offered this commitment at the exciting Southbank Place development. We look forward to helping the Site’s performance increase even further.
Southbank Place is a 1.4m sq. ft. mixed development site on London’s South Bank, overlooking the historic Houses of Parliament. This central London location brings specific challenges to construction teams to ensure the neighbourhood is not unduly disturbed during construction.
Cormac MacCrann, Managing Director of Canary Wharf Contractors, said:
We were delighted to be the first choice construction company to work with CCS on the creation of the Ultra Sites concept. Our award winning construction sites are staunch supporters of the Considerate Constructors Scheme and we believe that Ultra Sites will help us and our supply chain create new standards for considerate construction. This will bring significant benefits to our work force and to the local community.
A long-standing supporter of the Scheme, Canary Wharf Contractors registered its first site in 1997, and has since registered 40 of its projects. Demonstrating its ongoing commitment to considerate construction, Canary Wharf Contractors has scooped 23 National Site Awards. It became an Associate Member in 2011, and in 2015 the Canary Wharf Group became a Client Partner of the Scheme.
